Linux Disaster recovery with LVM and EMC SRDF

FAIL OVER PROCEDURE

On Prod Server:

1 – Application team need to shutdown application.

2 – umount all file systems running on appdg (SA)

3 – Deactivate diskgroup (SA)

#vgchange -a n appdg

4 – Export diskgroup  (SA)

#vgexport appdg

5 – check SRDF status before failover

#/opt/emc/SYMCLI/bin/symrdf -g appdg query

6 – Failover from R1 to R2 can be done using the script or manual SRDF (EMC failover/swap-R1toR2)procedure

On DR Server:

1 – Activate imported VG

#vgchange -a y appdg

2 – Import and reactivate VG

#vgimport appdg;  vgchange -a y appdg

3 – Mount all the replicated/failed over filesystems (check /etc/fstab file on nydbiqappb2)

4 – verify applications

On DR Server:

1 – Stop application

2 – Unmount all SRDF mounted filesystems using group “appdg” (SA)

3 – Deactivate diskgroup (SA)

#vgchange -a n appdg

4 – Export diskgroup  (SA)

#vgexport appdg

5 – MAKE SURE TO BRING UP ALL LOCAL FILESYSTEMS AS PER /etc/fstab

On Prod Server:

1 – check SRDF status before failover

#/opt/emc/SYMCLI/bin/symrdf -g appdg query

2 – Failback from R2 to R1 using the script (copied back the data from R2 side to R1 side) or   or manual SRDF (EMC failback-R2toR1)procedure 

3 – Activate imported VG

#vgchange -a y appdg

4 – Import and reactivate VG

#vgimport appdg;  vgchange -a y appdg

5 – mount the replicated/failed over filesystems as per fstab using “appdg” group

– start application – APP team
